Did your chanting feel too short today? Did your mind wander through the whole round?
Hear this. ONE VOICE of Namu Myoho Renge Kyo is a complete round.
Nichiren Daishonin was asked directly about a person who does not grasp the Lotus Sutra and recites the Title only once a day, once a month, or once in a lifetime. His answer was plain. That person avoids the evil paths and reaches the stage of no return. He called the daimoku the essence of the essence.
Chapter 3 of the Lotus Sutra says, "By faith you can enter." The door opens to sincerity. A stopwatch has no say in it.
The lotus flower blossoms and carries its seed at the same moment. When you chant Namu Myoho Renge Kyo, cause and effect of Buddhahood are established in your life right then. A short round holds the whole Law.
So on a tired evening, face the Gohonzon, or face a quiet space, and chant one sincere phrase. On a busy morning, chant one sincere phrase. Then walk into your day.
Your voice today is enough.
Namu Myoho Renge Kyo.
