What do you do when the room is dark and the answer has not arrived?
The mind wants a reason for every shadow. A noise in the hall, a bad feeling at midnight, a question with no reply yet. It asks for proof and keeps asking.
Chanting gives a different answer. One voice of Namu Myoho Renge Kyo steadies the breath, and the breath steadies the heart. The Gohonzon dwells within your own life, so the light is already in the room with you.
Nichiren Daishonin taught his followers to stay STEADY in the eight winds. Praise and blame, gain and loss all pass through, and the practitioner keeps chanting. Obstacles appear because the practice is working, and they polish the life that meets them, the way a boar rubbing on a golden mountain makes it shine.
ONE STEADY ROUND of daimoku before evening is enough for tonight. Original cause and original effect sit together in that single chant.
Sit down. Chant with a clear voice. When a thought wanders, RETURN to the next line of daimoku and keep going. Faith grows in that return.
The unknown loses its grip on a person who keeps chanting. Tomorrow's answer will find you already standing.
Namu Myoho Renge Kyo.
