A lion king fears no other beast. It moves with absolute confidence. It attacks its prey with total focus. The practitioner of the Lotus Sutra must possess this same spirit. Fear acts as a devil that paralyzes the will. It creates illusions of weakness. Nichiren Daishonin compares the chanting of Namu-myoho-renge-kyo to the roar of a lion. This roar silences all misfortune.

You possess the power to command your environment. Do not behave like a sheep before the wolf of adversity. Summon the heart of a lion king. Roar against the obstacles in your path. The sound of your daimoku shakes the universe. It activates the protective forces of life.

CONFIDENCE IS ESSENTIAL for victory. A hesitant voice reaches nowhere. A determined voice reaches the lands of all Buddhas. Believe in the magnitude of your own life. You are a tower of treasure. No enemy can destroy a person who awakens to their true strength. Chant with ferocity. Scatter the dark clouds of doubt. Walk the path of life with your head held high.
