Thank the obstacle. It is polishing you. A gem remains a simple stone without the friction of polishing. A sword remains dull iron without the heat of the forge. Nichiren Daishonin faced exile and persecution. He did not resent these hardships. He expressed gratitude for them. He knew that difficult people and painful situations function as "good friends" in Buddhism.
They strip away our arrogance. They force us to deepen our prayer. They drive us to rely solely on the Mystic Law. Without the strong winds of adversity, the kite cannot rise. Without the cold of winter, we cannot appreciate the warmth of spring. Your current struggle is the exact condition required for your enlightenment.
View your enemies as your greatest teachers. View your problems as your training ground. When you chant Namu-myoho-renge-kyo with gratitude, you transform the nature of the suffering. You gain control over it. You become a person of noble character. REJOICE IN THE CHALLENGE. It proves you are alive and advancing.
