We often look at our reflection and see only flaws. We see a common mortal burdened by problems. This perception is incomplete. Nichiren Daishonin explained that the mind resembles a mirror. When the mirror is dirty, it reflects nothing clearly. It shows a distorted image. A tarnished mirror requires polishing to function. The act of chanting Namu Myoho Renge Kyo is the act of polishing this mirror.
You must polish your life diligently day and night. A polished mirror reflects everything perfectly. It reveals the true nature of reality. It shows that you are a Buddha. This potential exists within you right now. It does not come from outside. You do not need to become someone else. You simply need to remove the dust of earthly desires.
The mirror of the Lotus Sutra reflects the dignity of your life. Every person possesses the innate wisdom to overcome adversity. Look into the mirror of your faith. See the immense value of your existence. RECOGNIZE your own Buddha nature. When you see clearly, wisdom naturally flows forth to guide your actions.
