'The Practitioner in Mappo - A Doctrinal Guide to Identity, Resistance, and the Vow' asks one question and answers it from primary sources rather than personal opinion: who is the practitioner of the Lotus Sutra in the Latter Day of the Law. Across seven chapters, it traces Nichiren's own argument for his identity, built directly from the Lotus Sutra and his letters, from the summons of the bodhisattvas out of the earth, through the persecution that followed, the suffering that came with it, the object of devotion he located inside the practitioner rather than outside, the vow he made under direct threat, and the inheritance he claimed extends past his own lifetime.

Quotations are kept short, with most of the text working through paraphrase grounded in the original sources. Disputed authorship gets named directly where it exists, rather than glossed over.

Written for practitioners who already know the basic teachings and want the doctrinal architecture underneath them, not an introduction to Buddhism.
